Care
Latex is a polymer and natural product and is sensitive to radiation of any kind, ozone, and high and low temperatures, so you should not expose your products to these for too long.
Latex can cause discoloration and damage when it comes into contact with certain metals
e.g., copper, brass, bronze, and other metals/alloys! However, there are exceptions, such as stainless steel and nickel. Please note the allergy information!
That's why my YKK zippers are made of plastic and the zipper sliders are coated.
And how do I protect my product?
I always recommend silicone oil for storage and preservation as well as during use.
Latex is a polymer that behaves like a sponge. If the sponge dries out, it breaks and eventually cracks. The same thing can happen to latex if you don't treat it with silicone oil. Therefore:
Always treat with silicone oil.
I do not recommend talcum powder at all, since it is a hazard to your lungs.
Talc can contain trace amounts of
ASBESTOS
since talc can be mined in places where asbestos can occur naturally.
Even if regulated, this can be a risk to your health which you should take seriously.
The FDA published a analysis about this.
None of the tested products on their site contained asbestos, but they highlight the possible risk.
Can you recommend anything?
